About the event
Maarten Frens is the vice dean of education at Erasmus MC. Maarten studied Medical Biology at Utrecht University and received his PhD in 1994 for research on audiovisual sensorfusion from Radboud University, Nijmegen. After postdocs in Switzerland and Australia he moved to Erasmus MC Rotterdam where he set up a multi-disciplinary research group. His current research focusses on neural and genetic factors that determine motor learning, particularly during rehabilitation after stroke. Since 2005 Maarten holds a chair in Systems Physiology at Erasmus MC. From 2012 to 2019 he was the (founding) Dean of Erasmus University College. He is the chair of the Health & Tech convergence initiative that operates on the joint strategic research and education agenda of Erasmus MC, Erasmus University, and Delft Technical University.
